August. Wer mal selber in GE dort langfliegen möchte, nimmt dieses kmz-File.
Hello! I searched for a track on Euphrates river and found your film and this article. I like it! Me and my friends want to visit Van lake and paddle from Van to Tatvan this august. After it we are going to have a trip on Euphrates. We want to pass the same way you did. What do you think, is it really to pass the way with 4 days (I have russian clapsed kayak - "baydarka")? You write about new dam under construction on the river. Where is it? I can't find it on Gmap - no dams between Atma and Erzincan.

Yes, I think it is possible. It is 29km/day, the river flows moderate to fast, only the rapids can cause some trouble. If you have enough water it should be no problem.

It is the dam "Bağıştaş 1 Barajı", which was finished in the end of 2014. Todays Google Map shows the dam and the fully filled reservoir. When I prepared the trip, I had only an older aerial photo, like that on Bing Map today. 2014 the reservoir was not filled yet.
AFAIK there is no other new construction site of a dam on the route.
If you like to view the GPS-track, give me your email adress and I'll send you. The color of the line segments correlates to the canoes velocity and you can see nearly all the rapids or faster flowing parts of the river. So you can calculate, when to start in the morning to reach the 29km.
